With experience at one of Central New York's largest independent public accounting firms, Kiernan's professional background also includes a role as an Accounting Intern at Dermody, Burke & Brown, and various positions within Fort Plain Youth Recreation, including Director and Counselor. Academically, Kiernan holds a Master of Business Administration in Accounting and a Bachelor of Science in Risk Management and Insurance from Utica University, where involvement as a Student Ambassador, Orientation Mentor, and Student Athlete occurred. Additionally, Kiernan graduated from Fort Plain High School.
