Gerasimos Avlonitis

Gerasimos Avlonitis has a diverse work experience in the energy sector. Gerasimos started their career as a Petroleum Engineer at Schlumberger Geoquest Reservoir Technologies Ltd. in the UK in 1995. Gerasimos then worked as a Petroleum Engineer at Edinburgh Petroleum Services Ltd. Also in the UK from 1996 to 1997. Avlonitis then moved to Greece, where they worked as a Business Development Executive at Prometheus Gas S.A. from 1999 to 2002. Following that, they joined the Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE) as the Head of Gas and Oil Department from 2002 to 2013. Gerasimos later became the Senior Director of Market and System Development at DESFA SA – Hellenic Gas Transmission System Operator in 2013. Avlonitis also holds the position of Member of the Board of Directors at Hellenic Energy Exchange (HEnEx) since 2018. Additionally, they have served as a Visiting Lecturer at the University of Piraeus since 2014.

Gerasimos Avlonitis obtained a Master's Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College London, where they studied from 1994 to 1995. Prior to that, they earned an Engineer's Degree in Chemical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, where they studied from 1988 to 1994.
