Design Outreach
Mark Heldreth is a Global Health Fellow at Design Outreach since October 2021. Prior to this role, Mark Heldreth served in various capacities at DePuy Synthes companies, Johnson & Johnson, from January 1999 to August 2021, culminating in the position of Engineering Fellow. In this role, Mark Heldreth managed worldwide knee research activities, collaborated with external research partners, and mentored Knee R&D staff. Additional leadership roles included membership on the Knee Platform Leadership Team and the Scientific Research Review Committee, as well as leadership of the DePuy Knee Research Consortium. Mark Heldreth holds a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Cincinnati, earned between 1978 and 1983.

We're on a mission to alleviate global poverty through life-sustaining technology. Design Outreach (DO) is a non-governmental, non-profit organization, on a mission to see marginalized and low-income communities transformed physically, economically, and spiritually. We focus on developing innovative and appropriate technologies that improve the lives of those in poverty and provide better health, education, and employment opportunities. DO is currently operating in 7 African countries and in Haiti.
