Margot Spence has a diverse work experience in the legal field. Margot is currently working as the Executive Director, Legal at Destination Canada since March 2022. Prior to this role, they worked at ICBC for 14 years, starting as a Senior Legal Counsel - Corporate Law Solicitor in October 2008 and later becoming the Manager Corporate Law in March 2014. Before joining ICBC, Margot worked at Olympic Broadcasting Services Vancouver Ltd. as the Sole In-House Legal Counsel from May 2007 to September 2008, where they provided legal advice on commercial issues and created the administrative framework for legal matters related to the 2010 Winter Olympic Games. Margot's earlier experience includes working as an Associate Legal Counsel at Jabour Sudeyko Stewart from 1991 to 1996, and as an In-House Counsel - Part-time Solicitor at Weyerhaeuser Company Limited from 1997 to 2005. Additionally, Margot has been involved with Capilano University, where they served as the Chair of the Institute of Paralegal Studies and also worked as an Instructor and Manager for the Paralegal Certificate Program from 1993 to 2007.
Margot Spence's education history begins in 1978 when they enrolled at The University of British Columbia and pursued a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Marine Zoology. Margot completed the program in 1982. Following their undergraduate studies, in the period of 1982 to 1985, they attended The University of British Columbia once again, this time to acquire a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree. Subsequently, in 2022, Margot Spence participated in the Certified In House Counsel - Business Leadership Program for In-house Counsel (C.I.C.C.) at the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Management, as part of the Rotman Executive Programs.
