Vice Chair at Destination Imagination

Wes Allen is currently the Vice Chair at Destination Imagination, and they have been with the company since 2017. Prior to Destination Imagination, Wes was an Associate Attorney at Blankingship & Keith, P.C. from May of 2017 to March of 2021. In their role as Associate Attorney, Wes served as general counsel and outside counsel to multiple public school divisions, charter schools, and private schools in Northern Virginia and the District of Columbia. Wes provided legal advice on a wide range of school-related topics to school boards, administrators, teachers, and other school employees on a daily basis, and regularly represented those clients in contract negotiations, administrative proceedings, and in the state and federal trial and appellate courts.

Wes' practice encompasses all areas of school representation, including special education; disability issues under the IDEA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and the ADA; student discipline; employment law and employee grievances; Virginia’s Freedom of Information Act; student privacy issues under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act; procurement law; tort claims involving students, employees, and school vehicles; and, a broad spectrum of constitutional and civil rights claims.

Wes Allen earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology & Psychology from William & Mary, a Master of Education (Ed.M.) in Higher Education/Higher Education Administration from Harvard University, and a Doctor of Law (J.D.) from William & Mary Law School.
