CarmenLeah Ascencio is an experienced professional with a diverse background in social change and trauma-informed practices. As the Creator of Freedom Labor Love since October 2014, CarmenLeah has focused on consulting for organizations and schools to foster emotionally healthy environments. Additionally, CarmenLeah has served as a Youth Movement Group Leader at Destiny Arts Center and as Director of the Get Free Youth Program, Black Girl Dangerous. Previous roles include Bilingual Counselor & Project Manager at Fenway Health's Violence Recovery Program and Family Court Advocacy Coordinator at Girls Educational & Mentoring Services. CarmenLeah holds multiple degrees, including a Master of Public Health in Global Health and a Master of Social Work in Trauma from Boston University, as well as a Bachelor of Arts in Post-Colonial Theory and WOC Feminist Theory from NYU Gallatin.
