Emily Lawler

Emily Lawler is an experienced journalist currently serving as the State Government and Politics Editor at the Detroit Free Press since April 2022, where leadership of a team of political reporters focuses on significant issues in Michigan. Prior to this role, Lawler worked at MLive Media Group from July 2014 to May 2022 as a News Leader and previously as a Reporter covering business issues in the state capital. Lawler's experience includes serving as a Correspondent for the Michigan Information and Research Service, managing content as Technology Manager for Capital News Service, and editing for various publications. Lawler holds a degree in Journalism with interdisciplinary studies in Public Policy from Michigan State University and has contributed extensively to the field through a range of editorial and reporting roles.
