Dexter Mason

President - Founders Junior Council (FJC) at Detroit Institute of Arts

Dexter Mason has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Dexter is currently the Managing Director at Change Collective, a national leadership network focused on solving community issues and promoting democracy. Prior to this, Dexter served as the Managing Director at Civic Nation, where they played a crucial role in driving meaningful change and connecting activists and leaders. Dexter was also an Advisor and later the Director of the Strive Initiative at Buzzer, a sports fan platform. Dexter has a background in the arts as well, having served as the President of the Founders Junior Council at the Detroit Institute of Arts. Dexter has also worked as a Special Assistant to the President at The Kresge Foundation and as the Director of Events & Marketing at the Ross Initiative in Sports for Equality (RISE). Early in their career, Dexter gained experience at The White House, United States Senate, and NFL Players Association through different internships and staff assistant positions.

Dexter Mason began their education at Grosse Pointe South High School, where they attended from 2005 to 2009. After completing high school, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Sport Management at the University of Michigan from 2009 to 2013. Following their undergraduate studies, Dexter continued their education at Georgetown University, earning a Master of Professional Studies degree in Sports Industry Management in 2014. In 2019, they attended Michigan State University for a short period and obtained a fellowship in the Michigan Political Leadership Program (MPLP), focusing on the Institute for Public Policy and Social Research (IPPSR).
