Nancy Barr

Dept. Head, Prints, Drawing and Photographs and James Pearson Duffy Curator of Photography at Detroit Institute of Arts

Nancy Barr has had extensive work experience in the field of art and academia. From 1993 to the present, they have been associated with the Detroit Institute of Arts, initially serving as the Dept. Head of Prints, Drawing and Photographs and James Pearson Duffy Curator of Photography. Later on, they took up the role of Co-Chief Curator, Dept. Head Prints Drawings and Photographs, and Curator of Photography. Nancy held this position from August 2013 to January 2020. In 2008, Nancy Barr also worked as a Lecturer at the University of Michigan-Dearborn for a period of nine months. From September 2004 to December 2005, they worked as an Adjunct Instructor at the College for Creative Studies.

Nancy Barr holds a B.F.A. degree in Photography from the College for Creative Studies. Nancy also pursued further education in Art History and completed an M.A. degree at Wayne State University.
