Andrew Lesch

Community Education Director at Detroit Lakes School District

Andrew Lesch has a diverse work experience in the field of community education and youth development. Andrew is currently working as the Community Education Director at Detroit Lakes School District since 2022. Prior to that, they were a Program Coordinator at BEMIDJI IND SCHOOL DISTRICT 31 from 2018 to 2021. In this role, they designed district-wide school age care programs, managed budgets, and supervised the development of out of school time programs. From 2016 to 2017, Andrew served as the Out of School Time Supervisor at Schools of Eastern Carver County, where they provided leadership in developing and coordinating comprehensive programs for over 500 kids. Additionally, they were the Director of Youth Development at Winona Family YMCA from 2015 to 2016, overseeing various youth programs and providing leadership to staff and participants.

Andrew Lesch has a well-rounded education history that spans multiple institutions and fields of study. Andrew began their educational journey in 2007 at the University of South Dakota, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Parks, Recreation and Leisure Studies. Andrew successfully completed their undergraduate program in 2011.

After completing their bachelor's degree, Andrew Lesch sought further education and enrolled at Ohio University from 2012 to 2014. During this time, they focused on earning a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Recreation Studies. This program allowed Andrew to delve deeper into the study of recreation and related fields.

Following their graduation from Ohio University, Andrew Lesch continued to expand their knowledge and expertise. In 2016, they obtained three additional certifications to enhance their professional qualifications. Andrew became a First Aid, CPR, and AED Instructor through the American Red Cross in January 2017. In October 2016, Andrew completed a Nonviolent Crisis Intervention program offered by the Crisis Prevention Institute. Additionally, they earned a Level 1 Challenge Course Facilitator certification from The Association for Challenge Course Technology (ACCT) in May 2016.

In 2021, Andrew Lesch decided to pursue further education by enrolling at Minnesota State University Moorhead. Andrew is currently working toward obtaining a License in Community Education Director. Andrew's educational journey continues as they strive to enhance their skills and knowledge in their chosen field.
