Detroit Opera
John Rutherford is an accomplished musician and entrepreneur with extensive experience in the music industry and hospitality sectors. As Co-Owner of The Cadieux Cafe since January 2019, John promotes unique offerings such as featherbowling and a diverse selection of Belgian beers. John founded Brass Jar Music in 2000, a boutique production and management company supporting various artists including The Motor City Horns and The Spectrum Brass Quintet. Additionally, John serves on the Board of Directors for the Grosse Pointe Chamber of Commerce and has directed the horn section for Bob Seger and The Silver Bullet Band since 2006. The Motor City Horns, founded by John in 1999, has collaborated with numerous acclaimed artists and ensembles. Educationally, John holds a Master of Music in Contemporary Improvisation from the University of Michigan, along with degrees in Music Management and Trombone Performance from Madonna University and the University of Michigan, respectively.
