Dr. Laura Moore has a diverse range of work experience in the field of media development and advocacy. Dr. Laura has held various positions at DW Akademie, including Deputy Head of Policy and Learning and Head of Research and Evaluation. Dr. Laura'srole as Head of Advocacy at DW Akademie involved setting up and leading the Advocacy team and advocating for freedom of expression, access to information, and media development worldwide. Prior to their time at DW Akademie, they worked as a Project Manager at Deutsche Welle Akademie, a Consultant at UNESCO, and a Project Coordinator at the International Media Center Hamburg. Additionally, they have experience as an Editor at DER SPIEGEL, a Freelance Journalist for various German media outlets, and a Reporter for Grupo REFORMA. Dr. Moore also completed a PhD on "Measuring Global Media Freedom" at the University of Hamburg.

Dr. Laura Moore completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree in Media and Communication Studies and Latin America Studies at the University of Hamburg from 2005 to 2008. Dr. Laura then pursued a Master of Arts (M.A.) degree in Journalism and Communication Science at the same university from 2009 to 2011. Continuing their education, Dr. Moore obtained a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Journalism and Communication Studies from the University of Hamburg between 2011 and 2015.
