Shamil Shams is an accomplished media professional with over two decades of experience in journalism and communications. Currently serving as the Deputy Head and Planner of the Asia Desk at Deutsche Welle since December 2010, Shamil has also held positions as a Senior Editor and Editor/Reporter focusing on English News and Asia. Prior experience includes roles as an Editor and Broadcaster in the Urdu Service at Deutsche Welle, a Consultant at the Sustainable Development Policy Institute, and a Communications Officer at Rozan, a child rights NGO. Shamil began a career in journalism as a Sub-editor at The News International. Shamil holds an MSc in Media and Communications from The London School of Economics and Political Science and an MA in English Literature from Karachi University.
