Susanne Lenz-Gleissner has a diverse and extensive work experience in the media industry. Susanne started their career as an author for Weinheimer Nachrichten in 1982 before moving on to work as a radio reporter and editor at Hessischer Rundfunk from 1984 to 1987. Susanne then completed a journalism internship at Süddeutscher Rundfunk from 1987 to 1989.

In 1989, Lenz-Gleissner returned to Hessischer Rundfunk, this time as a radio moderator, reporter, and editor. Susanne also worked as a host for the program "Doppelpunkt Nachgefragt" at ZDF/3sat from February to October 1991.

In 1993, they joined Deutsche Welle as a TV magazine editor for "100 GRAD" and later became the head of the youth editorial team. Susanne held various roles at Deutsche Welle, including deputy head of the main department of culture and documentaries, head of the department of arts and culture, and leader of the "KINO" and "KULTUR.21" teams.
