Advisor to the CEO at DEVCON

Clay Nelson has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Starting in 1998 as the Director of Technology at USWeb/CKS, they later served as the Director of Technology at marchfirst in 2001. In 2000, they became the CTO at ChangeAddress.com, where they played a key role in shaping the software's technical vision and leading the development team.

In 2001, Clay joined IBM Rational Software as a Sr. Software Consultant and later became the Technical Sales Manager. Clay then moved on to become the Business Unit Executive and eventually the North American Enterprise Modernization Practice Leader. In 2010, they transitioned to IBM as the Enterprise Modernization Tiger Team Executive and subsequently served as the Executive Sales Consultant for Georgia and Tennessee Growth and MidMarket Accounts.

In 2014, Clay joined BitPay, Inc. as the Director of Business Development, overseeing the processing of Bitcoin transactions for major global brands. Clay then worked as an Enterprise Account Executive at CloudBees in 2015, focusing on managing top-tier enterprise accounts in the Southeast.

From 2015 to 2021, Clay held various roles at GitHub, starting as an Enterprise Sales Executive and then progressing to become the Regional Sales Director. Their most recent positions at GitHub include Vice President of Sales for the Central US, LATAM, and Canada, and currently, as the Vice President of Sales for the Central US and as a Global Automotive Go-To-Market Executive.

Additionally, Clay has recently taken on the role of Advisor to the CEO at otto, starting in 2022.

Throughout their career, Clay has demonstrated expertise in sales, business development, and technical leadership, working with well-known companies in the technology industry.

Clay Nelson earned their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from Jacksonville State University, although the start and end years are unknown. Clay further pursued their education at Georgia State University, where they obtained a Master of Business Administration (MBA) degree with a focus on Organizational Development between 2003 and 2006. Recently, in 2019, Clay completed a certification in Digital Transformation Platform Strategies from the MIT Sloan School of Management, specializing in Business Strategy.
