Reid M. Porter

Director of Data Strategy at DevResults

Reid M. Porter has a wealth of work experience in the field of data management and ICT strategy. From 2018 to present, they have served as the Director of Data Strategy at DevResults, where they are responsible for onboarding and supporting clients in using M&E software, advising clients on data collection, open data publication, systems integration, and software training, and developing and prioritizing new features and scaling up existing ones in collaboration with engineers and data scientists. From 2017 to 2018, they were the Director of Transparency and Open Data at InterAction, where they coordinated advocacy, research, and technical processes related to promotion and implementation of transparency agenda within organization and across external partners and affiliated initiatives. Reid M. also led tool development, oversaw contractors, coordinated partner activities, supervised staff, and managed funder relationship on a $2m 2-year BMGF grant on open agriculture data. From 2015 to 2017, they were the Director at Amida Technology Solutions, where they advised external and internal teams on marketing and implementation strategy for various ICT platforms and open data, developed specifications and launch plan for data collection publication software, and created opportunities for technical consulting and software development for international development, peacebuilding, governance, gender, and trade. From 2013 to 2015, they were the Senior Results and Measurement Specialist at Pact, where they collected, analyzed, and published results of global programming, contributed to high-level measurement initiatives, and analyzed and visualized data related to project performance, financial projections, business development, and value-for-money. In 2013, they were the Analytics Task Team Leader at Innovations for Peace and Development, where they managed a team of seven tasked with providing quantitative analysis and GIS support to a 40-person research group and co-developed a concept note and budget for a USAID-funded maternal health mapping project in Malawi. In 2012, they were a Summer Fellow for Development Policy at Millennium Challenge Corporation, where they researched economic risks, social policies, capacity constraints, politics, public finances, and investment climates of nine countries to determine suitability for MCC assistance and drafted concise and informative briefs for each country researched. From 2009 to 2008, they were a GIS Analyst at GrantWorks, Inc., where they collaborated with planners, engineers, and officials to complete mapping for 8+ city plans and 100+ grant applications per year for poor communities in Texas and achieved a 25% reduction in fieldwork hours by developing a new user interface on data collection devices and streamlining survey procedures. In 2008, they were a Photogrammetrist at Aerial Data Service, Inc., where they provided clients with high quality geospatial data (GIS, CAD) under tight deadlines and developed new workflows following software transition. From 2007 to 2008, they were a GIS Research Assistant at the Population Research Center at the University of Texas, where they created and maintained a foundational GIS database for global population study, modeled historical population and settlement patterns using environmental data, and co-authored a technical report on GIS methodology and innovative techniques.

Reid M. Porter attended The LBJ School of Public Affairs from 2011 to 2013, where they earned a Master of Public Affairs in International Development. Reid M. also attended The University of Texas at Austin from 2004 to 2008, where they earned a B.A. in Geography and Geographic Information Science (GISci).
