David Smith

David Smith is a seasoned professional with extensive experience in artificial intelligence and machine learning engineering. Currently serving as Senior Manager of AI/ML Engineering and Senior Staff Data Scientist at Dexcom since December 2021, David also contributes as a Lecturer in Applied Artificial Intelligence at the University of San Diego. Previously, David held roles at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where achievements included leading the development of a machine learning platform and launching innovative recommender models that significantly increased conversion rates and revenue. Prior to Thermo Fisher, David co-founded the travel startup unPaved as Chief Technical Officer and worked as a Senior Software Engineer and Senior Consultant in various capacities. David holds a degree from the University of California, Berkeley.
