Johan de Vries is a data scientist and operations research specialist currently working for Dexter Energy Services. Johan has over six years of experience in the field, having previously worked for both KLM Royal Dutch Airlines and FuturMaster.
At KLM, Johan served as modelling lead, responsible for mathematical modelling within the product team. Johan's duties included coaching and evaluating fellow consultants, designing tools and algorithms, and overseeing team process improvements. Johan was also heavily involved in recruitment efforts.
Prior to their time at KLM, Johan worked as an engineer R&D in operations research at FuturMaster. There they used mathematical modelling techniques (MIP) to solve supply chain optimization problems, researched decomposition techniques for improving solver performance (CPLEX), and co-created an architecture committee. Johan also served as junior software architect, researching techniques and designing object oriented software architecture. In their final role at FuturMaster, Johan was responsible for rebuilding the company's offer from scratch, involving implementation of an Agile methodology, definition of an architecture roadmap, and organisation of efficient cross-cultural meetings.
Johan de Vries has a Master of Science in Applicable Mathematics from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) as well as a Bachelor of Science in Econometrics and Operational Research from University of Amsterdam. Johan also has a certification from Coursera in Build a Modern Computer from First Principles: From Nand to Tetris and another certification from Coursera Course Certificates in Machine Learning.
