Catherine Bannon

Catherine Bannon currently serves as the Ambassador-Designate of Ireland to Bulgaria, Armenia, and Georgia, and holds the position of Director for Passport Reform at the Department of Foreign Affairs, Ireland since April 2022. Prior experience includes serving as Chief Operations Officer and Head of Patient Safety Policy and Governance at the Department of Health, Ireland from July 2020 to April 2022. Catherine has also held various roles at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, including Deputy Director of the Passport Service and South East Asia/ASEAN Lead. Earlier positions include Private Secretary to the Secretary General and Third Secretary in the Trade Promotion Division, as well as experience as an English Language Teacher. Academic qualifications encompass degrees in Mediation, Chinese Language, European Economic and Public Affairs, and History and Political Science from various prestigious institutions.
