Tobias Wirth, Ph.D., currently serves as Research Team Lead for the “Generative & Transparent AI” group at DFKI’s Research Department “Smart Data & Knowledge Services” since February 2023. Wirth is experienced in transferring customer-focused AI solutions, advising on ethical AI to ensure fairness and compliance, and leading projects on AI applications. Previously, Wirth worked at Philips from November 2010 to September 2022, contributing as a Data & AI Scientist and Product Owner to enhance operational effectiveness in hospital systems through data-driven decision-making and developing ML-enabled patient stratification solutions. Wirth also held research positions at the University of Cambridge as a Research Associate and earned a PhD in Engineering from the University of Cambridge and a Dipl.-Phys. in Physics from the University of Kassel.
