Siddiqur Rahman

Md. Siddiqur Rahman is a front-line business leader. Currently, he is the Vice President of FBCCI (Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce & Industries). Mr. Siddiqur Rahman is the immediate past President of BGMEA for the period of September, 2015 to April, 2019. Before being the President of BGMEA, he served the trade body in various capacities like the Vice President (Finance) in 2010-2011 and the second Senior Vice President for the terms of 2012-2013. At present he is the Senior Vice President of BGMEA.

At first Mr. Rahman established Sterling Garments Ltd. in 1983. Later on, he founded some renowned companies such as Sterling Apparels Ltd, Unicorn Sweaters Ltd, Sterling denims Ltd, Sterling Creations Ltd, Sterling Laundry Ltd, Bando Design Ltd, Laila Styles Ltd, Laila Shipping Line Ltd, LR Telecom Ltd, Aqua Marine Dredging Ltd-Director, TH Fishing-Managing Partner, Blue Creations Ltd and Bando Trading. He is a member of the Board of Trustees of BGMEA University of Fashion and Technology (BUFT).

Mr. Siddiqur Rahman has great contribution in the political arena of the country. He is now appointed as the Secretary of the Commerce and Industry, Bangladesh Awami League.

In recognition of his extraordinary performances and contributions to the economy of Bangladesh, the Government of the People's Republic of Bangladesh has selected Mr. Md. Siddiqur Rahman as the CIP (Commercially Important Person) for several times. Mr. Rahman is good in social interaction and continued his social activities through the membership of Dhaka Club Ltd, Uttara Club Ltd, Army Golf Club Ltd, All Community Club Ltd, Bangladesh Club Ltd, Dhaka Boat Club Ltd, Apparel Club Ltd and Banani Club Ltd. Md. Siddiqur Rahman, Chairman of Sterling Stocks and Securities Ltd., a shareholder company of DSE, has been unanimously nominated as a Shareholder Director of DSE Board in its 970th meeting.
