Cheng Ann Tan

EVP, Marine Infrastructure & Coastal Development at DHI Group

Cheng Ann Tan is currently the EVP of Marine Infrastructure & Coastal Development at DHI Group. Cheng has over 20 years of experience in the water-related industry, with a focus on modelling, environmental assessments, ecology, digital services, and concept engineering.

Cheng started their career as an engineer at Kvaerner RJ Brown, before moving into business development as an assistant manager at Data Storage Institute. After 6 years there, they transitioned into environmental services and became the lead for SEA/China at Advisian. In this role, Cheng led a team of 14 consultants and experts in due diligence, impact assessments for new builds and plants decommissioning, monitoring, management and optimization.

In 2013, Cheng returned to DHI as the Head of Department for Modelling and Hydroinformatics. In this role, they led a team of 25 technical experts in modeling and engineering, covering areas of application in ports, dredging, reclamation, flood risk mapping, metocean design, waterways, renewables, climate change, environmental monitoring and management. Cheng was promoted to Managing Director for Singapore in 2016 and then to EVP Marine/Coastal/Environmental (Global) in 2018. In their current role, Cheng leads DHI’s water-related business globally.

In addition to their work at DHI Group, Cheng is also an Adjunct Senior Lecturer at the National University of Singapore’s School of Design & Environment.

Cheng Ann Tan has a M.Sc in Hydraulics and Water Resources from the University of Iowa and a degree in Civil and Structural Engineering from Nanyang Technological University.
