James Castillo II

James Castillo II, MD FACP HMDC has a diverse work experience in the healthcare industry. James currently serves as the Lead Hospice and Palliative Medicine Physician at DHR Health, a position they have held since June 2019. Prior to this, they held the role of Health Authority at Cameron County Department of Health and Human Services since 2009.

Dr. Castillo has also served as the Medical Director - Pediatric and Adolescent Hospice at ONLY LOVE HOSPICE, LLC since April 2016. James was previously the Medical Director - Palliative Care Program at Valley Baptist Health System from November 2010 to June 2019.

Furthermore, they have worked as the Senior Medical Director at Kindred at Home from October 2007 to June 2019. James also served as the Lead Physician - Rio Grande Valley at Aspire Health, Inc. from September 2014 to August 2016.

Additionally, Dr. Castillo acted as the Medical Director - VBMC Hospitalist Service at Valley Baptist Health System from 2005 to 2010. Overall, they have a wealth of experience in various leadership and directorial roles within the healthcare industry.

James Castillo II, MD FACP HMDC completed their education at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, earning an MD degree in Medicine from 1998 to 2002. Prior to that, they received a Bachelor of Science - BS degree in Biology and Chemistry from Barry University from 1994 to 1998. James attained their High School Diploma from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in 1994. Furthermore, they hold additional certifications in Hospice Medical Director Certification from the Hospice Medical Director Certification Board®, Hospice and Palliative Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine obtained in 2010, and Internal Medicine from the American Board of Internal Medicine obtained in 2005.
