Garan Ito has an extensive work experience in the healthcare industry. Garan started their career in 1996 as a Medical Technologist at Diagnostic Laboratory Services, where they worked until 1998. Garan then joined The Queen's Medical Center in 1998 and held various positions, including Pathology Assistant, Manager of Molecular Diagnostics and Biorepository, Director of Pathology Services and Biorepository, and Director of Diagnostic and Interventional Services. In 2017, Garan Ito returned to Diagnostic Laboratory Services as the Manager of QMC Punchbowl. In 2018, they were promoted to Vice President of Technical Operations, and in 2022, they assumed the role of Vice President of Business Development and Clinical Integration. Throughout their career, Garan Ito has showcased their expertise and leadership in various aspects of laboratory services and healthcare management.

Garan Ito completed their Bachelor's Degree in Clinical Laboratory Science/Medical Technology/Technologist from the University of Hawaii at Manoa from 1990 to 1995. Garan later pursued a Master of Business Administration (M.B.A.) with a specialization in EMBA from the University of Hawai‘i - Shidler College of Business from 2007 to 2009.

DLS is proud to be Hawaii’s largest locally-owned clinical testing laboratory with a team of 800+ dedicated professionals. Our Microbiology Lab is the only clinical laboratory in Hawai’i with the WASPLab, a highly advanced specimen processor. Our Core Lab features a chemistry automation line that is the largest of its kind in the state. It also utilizes mobile robots that efficiently deliver samples between processing stations.
