Filinto Duran

Filinto Duran has a diverse work experience spanning over two decades. Filinto began their career as a Contractor Web Specialist at Ford Motor Company in 1997, where they played a role in designing and implementing the company's first Extranet system.

Afterwards, Duran ventured into entrepreneurship and founded TuRuta.com, a web portal for the Venezuelan market, where they developed various features such as a search engine, calendar, classifieds, and group pages.

In the year 2000, they joined Intelsat as a Principal Network Engineer. In this role, Duran focused on identifying new opportunities and services related to video over IP, contributing to the enhancement of Intelsat's capabilities in the satellite industry.

Following their time at Intelsat, Duran joined AT&T in 2005 as a Senior Member of Technical Staff. During their tenure, they were involved in the design, testing, and deployment of the Video on Demand (VOD) part of the IPTV platform. Filinto also provided training on Python and Machine Learning within the corporation.

In 2010, Duran worked as a Lab Network Engineer for AT&T through KForce. Filinto played a key role in creating the test plan and executing tests for a multi-screen video transcoding solution, utilizing automated solutions using Perl and Selenium.

From 2012 to 2018, Duran continued working at AT&T, this time as a Principal Member of Technical Staff. Their responsibilities included automation efforts for Baremetal systems installation and aiding the Home Network team in their automation endeavors. Additionally, they provided training on Python and Machine Learning to peers and colleagues.

In 2018, Duran joined PlayStation as a Senior Release Engineer. Here, they developed and managed Kubernetes applications, automated processes around Kubernetes services onboarding and monitoring, and worked on Machine Learning using Kubeflow for Training pipelines.

Following their time at PlayStation, Duran became a Backend Engineer at Lightning AI in 2021. In this capacity, they contributed to backend development projects.

Most recently, Duran joined Diagrid in 2022 as a Senior Software Engineer, where they continue to apply their expertise in software development.

Throughout their career, Duran has acquired a diverse skillset, including experience with programming languages such as Python, Go, and Perl, as well as various tools and technologies such as Kubernetes, Helm, Bash, Docker, and CI/CD tools. Filinto has consistently demonstrated strong problem-solving abilities and contributed to the automation efforts within the organizations they have worked for.

Filinto Duran holds a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, which they obtained from Universidad Simón Bolívar from 1995 to 1997. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Electronics, and Communications Engineering at the same university from 1988 to 1995. In addition to their formal education, Filinto Duran also obtained a certification as a Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) from CNCF (Cloud Native Computing Foundation) in June 2020.
