Derek Colston

Derek Colston is currently the Associate Director of Relationship Management at Diamond Hill Capital Management. Prior to this, they worked as a Financial Analyst Intern at Summit Financial Strategies, Inc. and as an Advisor Services Intern at Charles Schwab.

Derek has always been interested in the financial industry and began their career journey by interning at two different companies in order to gain a better understanding of the industry. Derek quickly developed a comprehensive understanding of custodial service, operations and training functions through their hands-on training at Charles Schwab. Derek was even selected as a finalist in an internship innovation tournament to develop and evaluate top ideas for improving the client experience at Schwab Advisor Services.

At Summit Financial Strategies, Derek worked with associates to create reports used in client meetings and completed industry and investment research projects. Derek also analyzed client performance, gain/loss, cash reconciliation, and Morningstar reports. Their experience and skills gained at both previous internships have helped him excel in their current role as Associate Director of Relationship Management at Diamond Hill Capital Management.

Derek Colston has a Bachelor of Arts in Financial Economics and Leadership/Management from Capital University. Derek also has a degree from Bowling Green State University-Firelands.
