Andrew Aitken

Andrew Aitken has extensive experience in human resources and organizational services. Andrew most recently served as the Head of HR at Diamond Light Source since 2016. Prior to that, they held the position of Director of HR/Organizational Services at Hanover (Scotland) Housing Association from 2009 to 2016. Before that, they were the Head of Human Resources at South Lakeland District Council from 2005 to 2009. Andrew also gained experience as a Personnel Manager at Scottish Borders Council from 2000 to 2005, a Personnel Adviser at East Lothian Council from 1998 to 2000, an HR Officer at The Highfield Group from 1997 to 1998, and a Personnel Officer/Assistant at Borders General Hospital NHS Trust from 1996 to 1997.

Andrew Aitken completed their education with a Bachelor's degree in Business Studies from Heriot-Watt University, which they pursued from 1989 to 1994. Andrew furthered their education by obtaining a Master's degree in Personnel Management with IT from the same university in 1995-1996. Later, in 2002-2004, they pursued another Master's degree in Law and Employment Relations from the University of Leicester. Additionally, Andrew obtained a certification in Strategic Wellbeing and Resilience Programme from In Professional Development (INPD) in August 2021.
