Michael McDonnell has a diverse work experience, starting in 2002 as an Emergency Physician at the University of Toronto. From 2006 to 2019, they worked at INC Research and its subsequent merged companies, holding roles such as Associate Medical Director and Principal Investigator. In 2008, they became a Transport Physician at Ornge and held this position until 2015. In 2013, they joined Doheny Productions Inc. as a Medical Technical Advisor and also began working at Queen's University as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Emergency Medicine. At Queen's University, they later held the role of Assistant Program Director until November 2021. Michael also served as a Consultant Medical Monitor at DocQc starting in 2019. In 2020, they joined Worldwide Clinical Trials as a Senior Medical Director, specializing in CNS. In 2017, they worked as an Associate Medical Director at Syneos Health. Later in 2021, they took on the role of Chief Medical Officer at Diamond Therapeutics. Currently, they hold the position of Medical Lead at Queen's University Student Wellness Services.
Michael McDonnell completed their Bachelor of Science in Biology at the University of Ottawa from 1989 to 1993. Michael then pursued a Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the same university from 1993 to 1997. Following this, from 1997 to 1998, they completed a Transitional Internship at Columbia University, Mary Imogene Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown NY. Michael McDonnell then attended the University of Southern California from 1998 to 2001 to obtain an ABEM certificate in Emergency Medicine Residency Program. Finally, in 2001 to 2002, they completed the Emergency Medicine Residency Program and obtained an FRCPC degree from the University of Toronto.
