Frank Lopez Ballesteros

Frank Lopez Ballesteros is a seasoned journalist and editor with extensive experience in political and investigative reporting. Since January 2020, Frank has served as the Founder and editor of the Itempnews Journalism Project, overseeing Itempnews.org. Concurrently, Frank has been a journalist contributor at Diario las Américas since October 2015, focusing on Latin American politics with an emphasis on Venezuela, as well as long-form reports regarding drug trafficking and transnational organized crime. Prior to these roles, Frank was the lead journalist at Diario El Universal from June 2007 to October 2016, where responsibilities included covering terrorism and armed conflict, particularly in relation to Colombia, Cuba, China, Iran, and Russia. Frank holds a degree in Social Communication and Journalism from Universidad Monteávila, earned between 2001 and 2006.
