Shijie Gao

Shijie Gao is a Robotics Software Engineer at DiDi, starting in August 2024, specializing in Robo Taxi technology. Prior to this role, Shijie served as a Graduate Research Assistant at the University of Virginia from January 2018 to May 2024, focusing on various aspects of robotics, and also contributed as a Graduate Teaching Assistant in courses related to Autonomous Mobile Robots and Autonomous Vehicles. Prior experience includes an internship at Siemens in the summer of 2016, where Shijie engaged in project management and engineering within the Automation Systems and Integrated Drive Divisions. Shijie holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Computer Engineering from the University of Virginia, completed in May 2024, and previously studied Electrical Engineering & Computer Science at the University of California, Berkeley, from August 2016 to May 2017.
