David Johnston

David Johnston is a seasoned technology professional with extensive experience in creative technology and immersive experiences. Currently serving as Director of Technology - Creative Technology (interim) and Lead Technologist at Digital Catapult since April 2021, David previously held positions at the BBC from March 2017 to April 2021, including Executive Producer and Senior Product Manager for Immersive Technology, where David successfully led projects like the award-winning AR application Civilisations AR. David's background includes consulting in emerging technologies for various clients as a self-employed consultant between 2010 and 2017, and contributions in online editing and data operations at Empire Design and Framestore respectively. Educational qualifications include a BA in Film & Literature and a BSc in Internet Computing from the University of Essex.
