Stephen L. Weiss has been in the investment industry for more than 30 years and is a Managing Director at Cedar Pine LLC, the investment entity for the Barnett family where he is responsible for direct investing efforts into private companies. Cedar Pine is managed by Sam Barnett, the 4th generation of the founder of Medline, a multinational health care products manufacturer and distributor that was founded 107 years ago. Steve also serves on the Board of Nimble Robotics and is a Board observer at Wasabi Technologies. Prior to Cedar Pine, Steve was the Founder and Managing Partner of Short Hills Capital Partners LLC which was launched primarily to manage David Tepper’s wealth. Before SHCP, Steve had senior management and senior investment positions at Salomon Brothers, SAC Capital and Lehman Brothers. He was also a Visiting Teaching Fellow at UNC’s Kenan Flagler Business School teaching a course on capital markets based on the first of his 3 books, the bestselling The Billion Dollar Mistake (Wiley & Sons). Steve has been a regular on CNBC’s The Halftime Report since its inception in 2012. Halftime is the most viewed business show, globally, providing Steve with access to some of the world’s most influential CEOs and investors.
