Rikin Gandhi has a diverse work experience spanning various roles in technology, agriculture, and research. Rikin began their career as a Software Development Engineer Intern at Amazon.com in 2002. Rikin then worked as an Aerospace Intern at Blue Origin in 2004 before becoming a Draper Fellow at Draper Laboratory from 2003 to 2005. At Oracle, they served as a Member of Technical Staff, specializing in linguistic-based search systems from 2005 to 2006. Rikin also worked as a Consulting Technologist at CleanStar in early 2006 and as a Research Assistant at Columbia University's Earth Institute in late 2007. One of their notable roles was as an Assistant Researcher at Microsoft, where they developed an agricultural extension system called Digital Green, studying its impact and publishing various papers. In 2008, Rikin became the Chief Executive Officer of Digital Green, a position they still hold.

Rikin Gandhi completed their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and Physics at Carnegie Mellon University from 1999 to 2003. Rikin further pursued their education at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where they obtained a Master of Science degree in Aeronautical and Astronautical Engineering from 2003 to 2005.
