Associate Director, Paid Social at Digital Matter

Sebastian Clay has a diverse work experience in various roles and industries. Sebastian started their career as a Sales Consultant at Online Direct in 2006. Sebastian then moved on to work as an Audio Technician at Smack Entertainment from 2007 to 2011. In 2009, they joined 1st Project as a Technical Manager until 2011. During this time, they also worked as an Audio Final Mix Engineer at Frame 24.

In 2010, Sebastian took on the role of Stage Manager at The Drum Cafe, where they traveled to various cities in Japan with a theater production called "Drumstruck."

Sebastian then joined Monster Energy in 2011 and held multiple positions, including Marketing Activation Team member, Music Consultant, Digital Coordinator, and Regional Communications Manager. In these roles, they managed the brand's communications strategy, maintained their digital platforms, and oversaw product launches and press conferences.

Sebastian also worked as a Director at Lalelani.co.za, focusing on an up-and-coming music website in South Africa from 2011 to 2018.

From 2015 to 2017, they worked at Platinum Seed as a Senior Social Media Community Manager and Engagement Specialist, where they managed content flow and engaged with consumers for various brands. Sebastian also held the positions of Social Media Strategist and Paid Media Manager, where they were involved in content creation, strategy, and client meetings.

Sebastian's most recent position is at tmi collective, where they started as an Account Manager in 2018 and gradually moved up to become a Business Unit Lead in 2021. In this role, they managed a team of six people, focusing on a key account within the company and ensuring efficient processes and client performance evaluations.

Sebastian's latest work experience is as an Associate Director of Paid Social at Digital Matter, starting in 2022.

Sebastian Clay attended Red & Yellow in 2017, where they studied Online Advertising. Prior to that, from 2008 to 2009, they attended the Academy of Sound Engineering. At the academy, Sebastian focused on Pro Tools 210P, Final Cut Pro, and Audio Post Production. Sebastian'searlier education took place at De La Salle Holy Cross College, where they studied from 1990 to 2004. At De La Salle, Sebastian earned their IEB Matric, and their studies included subjects such as Maths, Geography, Biology, Business Economics, Afrikaans, and English.
