Mike Gifford, CPWA, serves as Open Standards & Practices Lead and Senior Strategist at CivicActions since November 2020, focusing on enhancing diversity, equity, inclusion, and accessibility. Gifford also contributes as the Drupal 8 Core Accessibility Maintainer since January 2012, improving web accessibility within Drupal Core. As a Board Member and Board President of the Digital Services Coalition, Gifford plays a key role in overseeing communications and leading initiatives to deliver efficient digital services. Previously, Gifford owned OpenConcept Consulting Inc. from October 1999 to November 2020, significantly contributing to Drupal Core and publishing the Definitive Guide to Drupal 7. Gifford co-founded the Open Source Alliance of Canada, promoting open-source initiatives to various sectors. Earlier career roles include web development at rabble.ca and volunteer coordination at Oxfam Canada, along with authorship of educational materials for Friends of the Earth. Gifford holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from Carleton University.
