Vanessa Small Ph.D.

Vanessa Small, PhD, MBA, is an accomplished biotechnology leader with extensive experience in founding and leading companies in the life sciences sector. Currently serving as the Founder and CEO of Alcheme Bio since 2023, Vanessa also holds positions as a Limited Partner at How Women Invest, where support is provided to female startup founders, and as a Venture Partner and Scientific Advisor at DigitalDx Ventures, which invests in AI-enabled diagnostics. Previous roles include a Senior Director at Cue Health Inc., where significant contributions were made to the development of molecular diagnostics, as well as key positions at Alere Inc., CalAsia Pharmaceuticals Inc., Pfizer, and Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center, focusing on research and development in biologics and molecular biology. Vanessa holds a PhD in Cell, Molecular and Developmental Biology from the University of California, Riverside, along with an MBA in Healthcare Management from Western Governors University and a BS in Biology from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
