Doug Flinn currently serves as Chancellor and General Counsel for the Diocese of Colorado Springs, overseeing legal matters for over 500 employees, 41 parishes, and six Catholic schools since March 2008. Flinn's previous experience includes a role as a member at Sherman & Howard, where representation was provided to government contractors and healthcare entities in complex legal issues from January 2001 to March 2008. Prior to that, Flinn served as Assistant Professor of Law at the US Air Force Academy, teaching various law subjects and contributing to academic articles from June 1998 to January 2001. Flinn's legal career began as Assistant Staff Judge Advocate in the United States Air Force, handling criminal and civil litigation from June 1993 to June 1998. Educational credentials include a Bachelor's degree in English and Spanish from Stanford University and a Doctor of Jurisprudence from Golden Gate University School of Law.

Created in January 1984, the Diocese of Colorado Springs serves a territory that spans 10 central and eastern counties of Colorado. The Diocese serves more than 176,000 Catholics in 39 parishes and missions. The Diocese and its parishes provide religious education and formation to more then 9,000 students. To keep up with the needs of the Diocese's growing population, its social outreach continues to expand. Last year, Catholic Charities of Colorado Springs assisted over 240,000 individuals and families.
