On November 19, 1981, His Holiness John Paul II established the Roman Catholic Diocese of Metuchen. The diocese is comprised of a Catholic population of 650,000 and encompasses Middlesex, Hunterdon, Somerset and Warren counties, which span through the upper central and western parts of New Jersey. This Bishop’s seat is the Cathedral of St. Francis of Assisi in Metuchen, NJ. OUR MISSION is to evangelize all people, at all times, and in all places.
