Stephen Farias has worked in various roles in the science and engineering field since 2007. Stephen began their career as a Graduate Research Assistant at Johns Hopkins University, followed by a Lead Mentor role at Thread, Inc. in 2012. In 2013, they took on the role of Chief Executive Officer at NanoDirect. From 2016 to 2020, Stephen Farias held the role of Chief Science Officer at DiPole Materials and a Faculty Lecturer at Johns Hopkins University, where they pioneered the Department of Materials Science & Engineering's first fully online course offerings. In 2017, they joined Early Charm Ventures, LLC as a Partner. In 2020, they founded Materic Group and is currently the Chief Science Officer.
Stephen Farias began their educational journey at Devon Preparatory in 2003. Stephen then went on to earn a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from Princeton University in 2007. Finally, in 2014, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy in Materials Science and Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University.
