Cheryl Lawrence McDaniel has extensive work experience, with their career spanning from 1995 to the present day. In 1995, they founded Direct Success Inc., a company focused on meeting client needs and prioritizing excellence in quality and accountability. The company has seen significant growth under their leadership. In 2015, Cheryl founded Extra Step Assurance, a venture that aimed to address the lack of factual and scientific education in the emerging cannabis industry. Cheryl recognized the need for physician education and compliance with continuing medical education (CME) standards. Cheryl is dedicated to providing balanced and accurate information about cannabis as a medicine.

Cheryl Lawrence McDaniel attended Miami University from 1977 to 1979, where they obtained a Bachelor's Degree from the College of Creative Arts in Music Education. Cheryl then returned to Miami University from 1982 to 1984 to pursue a Master of Science degree. In addition to their academic education, Cheryl has obtained several certifications, including the Small Business (SBE) certification from the State of New Jersey Department of Treasury in September 2019, the State of New Jersey Department of Treasury certification from the Division of Revenue and Enterprise Services in September 2016, and the National Women's Business Enterprise Certification from the Women's Business Enterprise Center East (WBEC East) in September 2011.
