DIREKTION is a European Disaster Resilience Knowledge Network dedicated to accelerating the uptake of innovative solutions that strengthen disaster preparedness, response, recovery and resilience.

Funded under Horizon Europe, DIREKTION brings together first responders, civil protection authorities, innovators, industry, researchers, policymakers and funding organisations to address real operational challenges faced by disaster and crisis management practitioners across Europe.

At the heart of DIREKTION is a practitioner-led approach to identifying and prioritising capability gaps. Through extensive engagement with responder organisations, the network helps align research, innovation, funding and policy efforts with operational needs, ensuring that promising technologies can move more effectively from development to deployment.

DIREKTION supports innovation uptake through:
• Capability gap identification and prioritisation
• Technology screening and assessment
• Innovation awards and solution showcases
• Webinars and knowledge-sharing activities
• Community building and stakeholder engagement
• Policy recommendations and strategic foresight
• Networking between practitioners, innovators and funders

The network promotes collaboration across sectors and borders, helping to strengthen interoperability, improve operational readiness and foster a more resilient European disaster management ecosystem.

By connecting people, projects and solutions, DIREKTION contributes to transforming research and innovation into tangible benefits for emergency responders and the communities they protect.

🌍 Building a stronger European disaster resilience community through innovation, knowledge exchange and multi-stakeholder cooperation.
