Disconnect Madison is a nonprofit community initiative helping people in Madison, WI build healthier relationships with technology. We focus specifically on algorithm-driven social media and the ways it quietly shapes our attention, mood, and sense of connection. Our work is research-driven and non-judgmental: we're not here to shame anyone for being online, but to offer honest information and practical tools for people who want to make a change.

We believe that stepping back from the feed creates space for something better. When people spend less time scrolling and more time present in their own lives, they tend to sleep better, feel less anxious, and have more capacity for the relationships that actually matter. We help people make that shift through education, community events, and a simple pledge to try something different, even if just for ten days.

Disconnect Madison is a local effort with a bigger idea behind it: that communities are stronger when people are genuinely present in them. We're building something in Madison that we hope others can replicate, and we're always looking for neighbors, local organizations, and businesses who want to be part of it.
