Al Hester is a seasoned professional in historic preservation and public history, with extensive experience at the South Carolina State Park Service as the Historic Sites Coordinator since April 1999, overseeing various preservation and museum projects. Hester also served as an Adjunct Instructor for an Environmental History Seminar at The University of South Carolina in 2019. Previous experience includes working as a Seasonal Park Ranger for the National Park Service from 1989 to 1996. Al Hester holds a Master's degree in Public History with a focus on Historic Preservation from the University of South Carolina, as well as a Bachelor's degree in English from Bowdoin College, complemented by a year of study at Swansea University.
