Discovery Place
Amanda Bottoms, BSW, MPA, is an experienced professional in youth development and program management, currently serving as the Manager of Youth Development at Discovery Place since August 2022. With a solid background at the Children's Defense Fund as an Ella Baker Trainer, Amanda delivered essential training components for the CDF Freedom Schools program and supported new program initiatives. Previous roles include Teen Director at Boys and Girls Clubs of Delaware, where Amanda significantly increased program attendance and recruitment, and Program Director at Peter Spencer Family Life Foundation, focusing on managing staff and quality assurance. Amanda's diverse experience encompasses program coordination, employee benefits analysis, and customer service, supported by advanced degrees in Public Administration and Social Work from the University of Delaware and Winston-Salem State University, respectively.

Discovery Place is a private 501c(3) not-for-profit education organization dedicated to inspiring exploration of science and the natural world through extraordinary exhibits and educational programs that inform, challenge and engage audiences of all ages. As one of the leading hands-on science centers in the country, Discovery Place offers visitors the opportunity to gain a greater understanding of the basics of science, technology, engineering and mathematics in a fun, interactive and informal setting. Discovery Place, Inc. owns and operates Discovery Place Science, Discovery Place Nature, Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville and Discovery Place Kids-Rockingham. Discovery Place Science in Uptown is home to the Accenture IMAX Dome Theatre.
