Ian Schmertzler

Ian Schmertzler has a total of four work experiences. Ian started as an intern at Riverstone Holdings LLC. in 2008 and then worked as an intern at the Yale Investments Office in 2009. Ian joined BlackRock | Financial Markets Advisory Group in 2010 as an Associate, where they worked on various advisory, portfolio management, valuation, risk assessment, and transaction engagements. In 2015, they became the CFO at Dispel and later became the President & CFO in 2017.

Ian Schmertzler has a diverse educational background. Ian began their academic journey in 2001 at Phillips Academy Andover, where they pursued a range of subjects but did not receive a degree. Later, from 2005 to 2007, they studied Chemistry and History at Middlebury College. In 2007, Ian transferred to Yale University, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in Chemistry and History from there in 2010. During their time at Yale, in 2009, they also had the opportunity to study at the University of Cambridge as a visiting student in the field of History. Seeking further specialization, Ian attended General Assembly in 2014, completing a Web Development Immersive program. Finally, in 2015 and 2016, Ian pursued a Master's degree in Industrial Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology.
