Rand Seay

Rand Seay has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning from 2010 to the present. Starting their career at the University of North Dakota, Rand worked as a Graphic and Web Designer, Illustrator, creating print and promotional materials for the Health & Wellness Unit. They also held a position at the Engineering Information Technology Services, where they built and maintained computers and provided networking assistance.

In 2011, Rand joined Ad Monkeys, Inc as a Graphic Designer, focusing on print advertising, promotional materials, web development, and photography. They then moved on to the North Dakota University System in 2013 as a Web Application Developer, responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-level applications. They utilized technologies such as ColdFusion, jQuery, CSS, Java, and mySQL.

After this, Rand worked at Kaggle as a Front End Engineer, where they implemented and cared for the front-end architecture and codebase, and also spearheaded responsive design tooling and techniques. When Kaggle was acquired by Google in 2017, Rand remained on board as a Software Engineer within the Kaggle Community engineering team. In this role, they worked on various features including discussions, administrator tooling, documentation, and authentication flows, using React, TypeScript, and LESS.

In 2020, Rand transitioned to Google's BigQuery UI team as a Software Engineer, where they contributed to building and supporting an SQL-like workspace for data analysts using TypeScript, Angular, and RxJS. After a year at Google, Rand joined Toro TMS in 2021 as a Senior Software Engineer. They focused on building modern tooling for the logistics and supply chain industry using React, GraphQL, and Ruby on Rails.

Currently, Rand is working at Dispel as a Senior Front End Engineer, contributing to the development of Dispel's web dashboard, which facilitates zero-trust remote access to industrial networks. Their work involves the implementation of end-to-end encryption, moving target defense, and resilient infrastructure.
