Muhammad Ansar is a dedicated professional currently serving as the VP Internal for the UofT St. George Student Chapter of Muslims in Academia and Co-President of the UTSG Chapter of EVOLVERE Mental Health. Muhammad has extensive experience in supporting individuals with disabilities as an Invigilator at the University of Toronto Scarborough and provides critical support as a Suicide Crisis Responder at Distress Centres of Greater Toronto. As Co Executive Director of Starts With One, Muhammad champions racial justice and equity in education, while also overseeing operations for the Emergency Medical Response Group at the University of Toronto Scarborough. Additionally, Muhammad holds leadership roles in multiple organizations, including Human Nature Projects Canada, focusing on environmental advocacy and community engagement. Currently pursuing a Master of Health Science in the Translational Research Program, Muhammad previously earned a Bachelor's degree with a double major in neuroscience and psychology from the University of Toronto Scarborough.

Distress Centres of Greater Toronto
For 50+ years, Distress Centres of Greater Toronto has provided 24-hour support, 7 days a week, 365 days a year to individuals in our community who are at-risk and vulnerable. We are Canada’s oldest volunteer delivered crisis, emotional support, and suicide prevention + intervention + postvention service agency. Our crisis and emotional distress services are available via telephone, online chat, and text. We provide services in 9 different languages: English, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Mandarin, Cantonese, Urdu, Hindi, and Punjabi. We also offer face-to-face individual and group support/counselling to those who have lost a loved one to suicide or homicide and are navigating through their healing journey. Distress Centres of Greater Toronto continues to expand, and our service users, service demands, and call volume increase each year.
