David Gehring has a diverse and extensive work experience in the media industry. David co-founded Distributed Media Lab in 2017, where they served as the CEO, focusing on expanding reach and driving new revenue for publishers and marketers. In 2018, they became a Mozilla Fellow, working on the Meridio Project to improve the market opportunity for quality publishers in the digital economy. Before that, Gehring co-founded Relay Media in 2015, which developed a platform for distributing news and content across the open web. David also worked at Guardian News & Media as the VP of Partnerships and Advisor, focusing on driving industry developments and collaborations. Prior to that, they held several roles at Google, including Global Alliances & Strategic Partnerships and YouTube News Strategic Partnerships. Earlier in their career, Gehring worked at SmithGeiger, where they were the Managing Director of Digital Platforms, and Famplosion, where they were the Founder & CEO. David also held positions at Quickplay, Antenna Software, and Aeroprise.
David Gehring attended Fallbrook Union High School from 1985 to 1989. After completing high school, they went on to pursue a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Westmont College, where they studied from 1989 to 1993.
