Nazila Akhavan has a strong background in research and development, particularly in the fields of mathematics and epidemiology. Nazila started their career as a Research and Teaching Assistant at the University of Manitoba in 2016, where they worked until 2017. From 2017 to 2018, they continued their research and teaching work as a Research and Teaching Assistant at Queen's University, focusing on mathematical modeling and vaccination simulations.
In 2018, Nazila joined Kings Distributed Systems as a Mathematics Applications Developer, where they were responsible for porting statistical and mathematical packages and designing user-friendly web application software. Nazila also conducted testing and debugging to ensure product quality.
Since 2019, Nazila has been working at Distributive as a Core Developer and Software Developer. In their current role, they have collaborated with research institutions such as Queen's University and York University to contribute to projects related to COVID-19 predictive modeling and tick-borne encephalitis infection risk estimation. Nazila has also translated statistical and mathematical packages.
Nazila Akhavan earned a Master's degree in Applied Mathematics from Queen's University between 2016 and 2018.
