Martin Smith

Martin Smith currently serves as Chief Technology Officer at the Ditchley Foundation, where responsibilities include overseeing the technology strategy and managing the research process. Martin has developed tools for automated text analysis using natural language processing and played a key role in developing a graph database for managing Ditchley’s extensive network. Prior to this role, Martin was a Data Science Fellow at Science to Data Science, focusing on enhancing Ditchley’s internal database. Martin's academic career includes positions as Research Professor at the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Peking University, as well as postdoctoral research roles at prestigious institutions including the University of Cambridge and the University of Groningen. Martin holds a PhD in Astrophysics from The University of Manchester and an MSci in Mathematical Physics from the University of Nottingham.
